A Mississippi Quail hunt turns into the hunt of a lifetime! The Mississippi Outdoors crew heads to Clay County for a quail hunt at Prairie Wildlife, hunting over three experienced flush dogs. As coveys rise and birds break cover, the hunters talk about the bond they share with their dogs and the trust required to hunt successfully together. Along the way, the crew takes both a pheasant and a banded quail, highlighting how dog work, timing, and teamwork define upland bird hunting in Mississippi.

Following the recent flood, MDWFP fisheries staff have been working over the last week at Percy Quin State Park’s Lake Tangipahoa to remove invasive aquatic plants, including water hyacinth and Cuban bulrush. These invasive species spread quickly, crowd out native plants, and can limit public access.
