Whee! These mergansers were recently spotted relishing the rough waters of the Nisqually River. After hatching, typically in the cavity of a mature tree, merganser ducklings enter the water on their mother's back. Once they are big enough to brave the rapids themselves, the group keeps their ability to move as one.
