I guess today is all about the hot table. Here is a time lapse of the vacuum pump extracting all the air from the envelope in which the painting rests. The painting is flaking quite a bit and the first step is to perform a vapor treatment to encourage the relaxing of the paint film. Heat, moisture and pressure all work together to set the paint film in a new, flat state. After this the painting will receive an adhesive impregnating to bond the lifting paint back to the canvas.
