In 2023, we’re celebrating 50 years of the Eisenhower Tunnel connecting Colorado! 🎉 🚧 Construction of the #EisenhowerTunnel began on March 15, 1968 and was anticipated to be complete within three years, but the geology of the tunnel site presented engineering challenges. After trying several methods out, the best solution was called “multiple drifts”- building smaller tunnels around the main bore and filling them with concrete to stabilize and hold up the mountain. 🚗The Eisenhower Tunnel open
